Another Firearm Taken Off the Streets

Police on St. Thomas arrested 18-year-old Kaniah Hazel around 2:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30 and charged him with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm.
Members of the VIPD Criminal Intelligence Unit said Hazel was traveling in a vehicle that ran a red light in the Barbel Plaza area. Officers made a traffic stop on the vehicle and the occupants were ordered to exit the vehicle. As Hazel exited the vehicle a .9 caliber unlicensed firearm fell from his clothing.
Bail was set at $25,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
