Man Arrested For Machete Attack Causing Injury

Charlotte Amalie, St.Thomas USVI - On Monday, February 11, 2019 at approximately 7:16 am, Richard N. Callwood Command Patrol Units were dispatched to Strand Gade in the area of House of Pastries & Deli in reference to a victim being chased by an individual.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim who stated that while he was driving in the area of Weekes & Weekes bakery, he noticed Jefferson Titus following him in his vehicle. They made a stop at the parking lot of House of Pastries & Deli.

The victim continued stating that Titus blocked his vehicle, approached him from the driver’s side front door, and broke the window with a machete.

Titus then began assaulting him with a machete through the broken window, sustaining a laceration on his left hand.

The victim concluded by stating that he exited his vehicle through the passenger’s side front door and started running as Titus chased after him with the machete, be the victim was able escape.

On that same day, at approximately 10:55 am, Jefferson Titus, age 44, was arrested for Assault 3rd Degree, Destruction of Property and Disturbance of the peace (threat).

Bail was set at $25,000. Unable to post it, Titus was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advise of Rights Hearing.
