Fatal Shooting In The Workplace, Suspect In Police Custody

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas USVI - On Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at approximately 8:27 am, an employee of the Viking Corporation located at Estate Thomas, St. Thomas reported that one of his male employees was shot in the breakroom of the establishment.

The victim, who was identified as Bariki George, age 23, sustained several gunshot wounds about his body.

Emergency Medical Technicians were present on the scene and stated that George had no vital signs.

Information given during the investigation of this incident resulted in the arrest of Russell Moolenar, 36 years old, who is also an employee at the Viking Corporation. He was then apprehended and placed under arrest at his residence.

Moolenar was charged with Murder in the First-Degree. Bail was set at $1,000,000,00 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections Detention Center pending advice of rights hearing.

The victim’s family members were notified of this incident and identified the deceased.

This case is presently under investigation by the Major Crimes Unit.
