Valley Road Enighed, St. John Robbery Suspect Arrested

Cruz Bay, St. John USVI - On Monday, March 4, 2019, at about 1:48 am, a patrol was dispatched to Quiet Mon Pub located on Prince Street, St. John, about a male who was assaulted previously that night.

Upon the arrival of the patrol, contact was made with the victim who was standing in the roadway in front of the Quiet Mon Pub. The victim was bleeding from cuts to his face and there were several small round areas of swelling to the left side of his head.

The victim stated that he was attacked by Ezius Ashly who struck him repeatedly to the head with a revolver.

The victim also stated that Ashly grabbed his 36-inch Gucci chain off his person and drove away.

On Sunday, March 24, 2019, at approximately 1:40 pm, officers were in the area of the U.S. Postal Service, located in St. John, where Ashly, dressed in a red T-shirt, red short pants and black slippers, was standing at the Customs Dock parking lot.

Ashly suddenly took off running towards the Customs Dock in the National Park area. Officers chased him on foot, however he jumped off the dock into the water and refused to get out. Officers got Ashly out of the water and placed him under arrest.

Divers from the St. John Low Key Water Sports, and the National Park personnel were able to assist VIPD with retrieving the revolver from the water.

At 1:52 pm on said date, 19-year-old Ezius Ashly was placed under arrest and charged with Robbery in the First Degree. Ashly's bail was set at $25,000.00 by the Order of the Court. He was booked, processed and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.
