Woman Arrested For Unauthorized Use Of A Vehicle And Stolen Property Charges

Charlotte Amalie, St.Thomas USVI - On Monday, May 6, 2019, at approximately 10:20 am, Richard N. Callwood Command Patrol Division Officers were dispatched to Haabets Gade, Charlotte Amalie in reference to a recovered vehicle that was stolen.

On Sunday, May 5, 2019 at approximately 11:00 am, the victim parked his rental car in front of Hook, Line & Sinker with the engine running. Based on the surveillance, an unknown individual entered the vehicle and drove away from the area.

On Monday, May 6, 2019 at approximately 10:50 am, while the Forensics Unit was processing the recovered vehicle that was stolen from the area of Frenchtown, an unknown individual, later identified as 35-year-old Desiree Bell, walked up the crime scene and admitted that she got into the running vehicle, driving off with same the day before.

The defendant, Desiree Bell, was arrested, and charged for Unauthorized use of a Vehicle and Petit Larceny, Possession of Stolen Property.

Bail was set at $25,000. Unable to post it, Bell was processed and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending her Advise of Rights hearing.
