VIPD Honor The Service And Sacrifice Of All Law Enforcement Officers And Recognition Of Thier Fallen Brothers And Sisters During Police Week

May 12, 2019

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.

This year National Police Week will be celebrated from May 12, 2019 to May 18, 2019.

Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week pay tribute to the local, State, and Federal law enforcement officers who serve and protect us with courage and dedication.

In the Territory, the Virgin Islands Police Department will be hosting various events to honor the service and sacrifice of all law enforcement officers and recognition of their fallen brothers and sister blue.

Acting police Commissioner Jason K. Marsh stated "as we celebrate the handwork of our officers and supporting staff, being a police officer is often stated as a thankless job, but I say Thank You and I Appreciate You.

At the same time, we must remember those that have given their lives protecting our community. Let us continue to embrace their families as our family.

In these times where we are the targets while we try to protect the members of this community, be mindful and careful of our surroundings because we like our community, have family members that love us and want us home safelyā€¯.
