Animal Cruelty Unit Investigating Shooting Of 2 Injured Dogs

Kingshill, St. Croix USVI - On Sunday, June 16, 2019, at around 8:00 am, two dogs were shot in the area of Estate Jealousy and Midland Road by a black older male operating a Blue Dodge Ram truck older model.

A witness was traveling East on Midland Road and heard a single shot followed by a second shot. The witness observed a blue truck stopped on the West bound lane and the two dogs around the truck, bleeding.

The suspect drove away and the witness transported the dogs to a veterinary clinic for medical attention.

At the clinic, X-ray photos showed fragment lodged on the right side of the dog’s mouth and an entry wound on the left side of the face.

The second dog sustained an entry wound on the right shoulder area, traveling across the chest and lodging on its left side after breaking a leg.

Both dogs were admitted and are in stable condition until surgery to remove the projectile and fragments.

At the time of the incident, both dogs were wearing a collar which indicates that they are owned.
