Man Suffers Assault In The 3rd Degree In Smithbay Area

ST. THOMAS – On Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Virgin Islands Police Department officers from the M. C. Newton Command and units from the Criminal Investigation Bureau, traveled to the Roy L. Schneider Regional Medical Center in response to a reported assault.

When officers arrived at the medical center, contact was made with an adult black male, Ivan Alexander, who stated that about 10:00 a.m. he was walking on the public roadway in the area of Louie’s Market in Smith Bay. While walking, Alexander told officers that he felt a stinging sensation to the left side of his back. He told officers that he did not hear any gunshots or observed anyone in the area with a gun.

Alexander sustained a laceration to the left side of his back and was treated and released from the medical center. This case is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
