VIPD & US Marshals Serve Warrant And Arrest Robbery Suspect

ST. THOMAS – On Saturday, August 10, 2019 at approximately 6:00 a.m., Virgin Islands Police Department officers of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, Special Operations Bureau and U.S. Marshals executed a search and arrest warrant. Officers arrested Elieser Edwards, 20, of Paul M. Pearson Garden in the vicinity of Building 8 on St. Thomas.

An arrest warrant for Edwards was issued on June 6, 2019. After a thorough investigation and the help of the Crime Stoppers Hotline tip that came to officers that determined Edwards resided at the housing community.

Stemming from a Robbery in the 1st Degree on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at approximately 3:53 a.m. when officers and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau responded to a call of armed robbery at a business in the Vitraco Park Mall. Victims told officers that while trying to close the business two masked men entered armed with weapons. The suspects managed to take at least $2,000 us dollars from the business and the occupants.

Edwards was charged with Burglary in the 1st Degree; 3 counts of Robbery in the 1st Degree; 3 counts of Grand Larceny; 3 counts of Robbery in the 2nd Degree; 3 counts of Assault in the 1st Degree; 3 counts of Use of a Firearm during the Commission of Crime of Violence; and Conspiracy to commit Robbery. Bail was set at $150,000 as per Order of the Court. Unable to post bail, Edwards was processed and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights hearing.
