Commissioner Designee Velinor thanked the senators, the top brass in attendance, and members of the Virgin Islands Police Department and his family. Finally, he uttered these words, “I am honored that the Honorable Governor Bryan recognized me as someone he can tap for the job.”

“Quite frankly I am honored because a Virgin Islander can come back home and have an opportunity to serve, Velinor said. “There is a calling. I think in me coming back home had something to do not so much with me but more so with the community. I have no intention of doing it by myself.”

Velinor assured the community of the track and path ahead. He stated, “we have a high calling in which we have to leave the next generation a little better than our generation. The Virgin Islands is a beautiful place with lots of positives, but we continue to highlight the negative. We have a small amount of people in our community that is creating a mass amount of problems. All we have to do is track, follow, arrest and convict these individuals.”

Velinor’s final pledge was, “I look forward to working with each of you and I will not disappoint.”

Anyone needing to speak to the commissioner can call the Virgin Islands Police Department at (340)774-2211.
