Unable to Deliver on Business Agreement, Man Arrested for Theft

St. Thomas, USVI - On September 13, 2022, the Economic Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into a reported case of obtaining money by false pretenses. Investigation into the complaint revealed that 45-year-old, Mr. Anson Gallaway, the owner of a construction company took monies from victims to construct a prefabricated home and did not fulfill the services.

On December 12, 2022, Mr. Gallaway turned himself into the Economic Crimes Unit Detectives where he was arrested and charged with the crimes, Obtaining Money by False Pretenses and Grand Larceny pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands.

Based on the incident, Mr. Gallaway’ s bail was set in the amount of $34,000.00. Unable to post bail, Mr. Gallaway was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending Advice of Rights Hearing.
