Firearm Discovered During Traffic Stop

St. Croix, USVI - On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 9:57 p.m., while the Special Operations Bureau was conducting saturated patrol in the Christiansted area, at the traffic light intersection by Contentment Road, an officer observed a white four door vehicle fail to stop at the red light. The driver of the vehicle was stopped by a police officer near the Pickard Trade Center. The driver and sole occupant, identified as Kaheem Roberts, appeared very nervous. When asked if he had anything illegal inside of his vehicle, Mr. Roberts handed a Crown Royal sack to the officer which had several clear vials and a clear sandwich bag, all with what appeared to be a green leafy substance in them. When asked if there was anything else illegal inside of the vehicle, Mr. Roberts did not answer. He was ordered out of the vehicle and frisked. A search of the vehicle was conducted and inside a black and grey Coach crossbody bag, a Glock 26 .40 Caliber handgun with a chip was discovered.
