41-year-old Arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle

St. Thomas, USVI - On May 16, 2023, detectives were notified of an unauthorized use of a vehicle that occurred on May 15, 2023, in the area of Red Hook Dock, St. Thomas.

Contact was made with the complainant who explained that they parked their vehicle on May 15, 2023, at about 1:45p.m., in the parking lot leaving the doors unlocked and keys inside. They also explained that upon their return on the same date, at about 12:00 a.m., they discovered that the unknown suspect entered their unlocked vehicle and removed the vehicle without their permission.

Contact was made with Edward Richards, in the area of Moravian Highway, by the Richard Callwood Command and Port Authority Officers after receiving information through the Intelligence Unit concerning the incident. Mr. Richards, 41 years of age was then taken into custody and transported to the Alexander A. Farrelly Criminal Justice Complex, Criminal Investigation Bureau where he was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, then processed, booked, and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections. His bail was set at $25,000.00.
