Frederiksted, St. Croix - On April 21, 2023, at approximately 10:13 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received reports of shots being fired in the Mutual Homes Housing Apartments. Additional information was disclosed to the responding officers that there was a gunshot victim at Mutual Homes. Contact was made with the gunshot victim who reported to the Investigators that Mr. Adiel O. Huertas “Macho” and Mr. Jaheem A. Maxwell were the individuals that fired shots at them. Thereafter the investigation into the matter, a search warrant for Mr. Huertas’ and Mr. Maxwell’s residences were obtained and granted by the Superior Court Judge.

On May 25, 2023, members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and Special Operations Bureau executed the search warrants at Mr. Adiel O. Huertas’ and Jaheem Maxwell’s residence. A firearm was located at their residence and Mr. Huertas and Mr. Maxwell were placed under arrest without incident.

They were advised of their Miranda Rights and were each charged with Carrying of Firearms openly or concealed. Mr. Huertas, age 18, and Mr. Maxwell, age 26, were booked, and unable to post their bail, which was set at $50,000.00 each. They were subsequently remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending their Advice of Rights Hearing set for May 26, 2023, at the Superior Court.

On October 10, 2023, two men were caught on video as they burglarized the Heavy Materials Quarry located at Mount Pellier, Frederiksted. On May 12, 2023, an arrest warrant was obtained from the Superior Court. On May 25, 2023, members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and Special Operation Bureau from St. Croix and St. Thomas, executed the arrest warrant and Mr. Angel Rosa, Jr., 19-years-old, was arrested and advised of his Miranda Rights. Rosa was charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Grand Larceny. He was booked and unable to post his bail which was set at $25,000.00. He was later transported to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility where he was remanded pending his Advice of Rights Hearing on Friday, May 26, 2023, at the Superior Court.

During Operation Domino Effect, a minor was also arrested for possession of a firearm. This matter is being handled by the Juvenile Division.
