Ceremony Held for VIPD Newly Sworn in Captains and Lieutenants on St. Thomas

St. Thomas, USVI - The Virgin Islands Police Department held a swearing in ceremony on Friday, June 23, 2023, for newly promoted Police Captains and Police Lieutenants in the St. Thomas-St. John District. This ceremony was held at the VI Superior Court St. Thomas by the Honorable Judge Sigrid Tejo.

Police Commissioner Ray A. Martinez told family members of the newly promoted Lieutenants and Captains and well-wishers:

"The job now becomes more intellectually taxing and less physically demanding. I ask you to be supportive and understanding. I can assure you they're trained to be the best of the best. You should be proud of them just as I am.”

Lt. Governor Trezenga Roach attended the ceremony. He complimented and congratulated the newly promoted VIPD Lieutenants and Captains. He stated that he has witnessed the officers use better judgment enforcing the law in a small community which can be very challenging.

The date for the newly promoted Captains and Lieutenants for the St. Croix District will be announced.
